Here is the core of what makes eBay great: a huge base of people are searching each day with the intent of buying. This makes this site much more profitable than Google. If someone searches a book at Google, you have no idea if they want information, if they want to know more about the author or wanting to buy it. If they searched it on eBay, they want to buy, which makes this business very lucrative for profits.
