  • Lyrics - The Backbone of a Song  By : Alexandru.21 Cimpoca Bulac.23
    Social Music Responsibilites

There are different ideas to what the term: "Social music" really means; for some it's the whole concept of music played and shared with other humans while traveling from one point to the next one; for others it refers to the music indulged by a determined group of individuals who share a little bit more than the taste for that particular genre and to the rest is the music that is played at specific celebrations.

Regardless of the true meaning of "Social music" there is no better way to excel at it than to treat it with the respect that all music deserve and demand in order to be successful.

If it's a performer that take on the definition of social music as the one that is played in human festivities: Weddings, birthdays, graduations and funerals, then his or her mission is to excel in the performing and writing the lyrics and music that will accord to such events. This is not an easy mission and more often than not he or she will find more than one situation that will require additional patience and some extra work. Writing for special occasions requires the composer (regardless if the composer specializes in music or lyrics) to tune to the emotion that will be transmitted through the composed piece; the same thing goes for the performer; it seems inappropriate for a funeral performer to present to the job in shiny clothes and a big smile.

  • Iron Maiden Biography And Top 10 Songs  By : Andy Jackson - Wisdom_Mcr
The song Charlotte the Harlot probably started me listening to Iron Maiden more than just hearing them on the radio because (and I know this is mean) when I was at school back in the day there was a girl I knew called Charlotte and I used to call her Charlotte the Harlot because of knowing the song. This was really when I was a little kid of about 8 and I actually ended up having her as a girlfriend when I was about 14, so it all worked out ok in the end.
  • Blondie Biography And Top 10 Songs  By : Andy Jackson - Wisdom_Mcr
There were two main reasons I started listening to Blondie and they were: first I thought Debbie Harry was amazingly beautiful and second the style of music they made. At the time I got into Blondie I was listening to a lot of punk and new wave stuff like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Sham 69, The Exploited, Ramones, Ian Dury, The Stranglers, etc... and it also helped me to annoy my parents. I actually used to like putting posters on my wall when I was a kid at school and one of my posters was a full size poster of Debbie Harry.

  • The Smiths Biography And Top 10 Songs  By : Andy Jackson - Wisdom_Mcr
The Smiths are another of my favourite Manchester bands and as I have said before, you have to support your own. I think I initially started listening to The Smiths when What Difference Does It Make came out in 1983 and I thought Morrissey had one of the most interesting voices and lyrical styles which were not the usual sort popular at the time. Some people think that The Smiths were a depressing band with very boring lyrics but I think I connected with them because of that. I like to be unique and different which I think is reflected by some of the music I listen to. I do think some of the songs contain very emotional lyrics but I wouldn't say they were too depressing or boring and actually quite funny.
  • Texas Biography And Top 10 Songs  By : Andy Jackson - Wisdom_Mcr
I have liked Texas ever since they released their first single (I Don't Want A Lover) while I was still at school. At the time I was still listening to "pop" music and the charts on the radio regularly (which I don't do much anymore) and I thought Sharleen had one of the best female singing voices I have ever heard. Usually when out at a party or at the pub and a DJ is on you are restricted by the music they carry but you can bet on the fact they will have at least one Texas song on a cd somewhere, so I generally ask them to play it because mostly they dont have some of my other favourite music (The doors, Jimi Hendrix, Wu-Tang, etc...) which I would probably request otherwise.
